“But the Queen Arwen said: ‘A gift I will give you. For I am the daughter
of Elrond. I shall not go with him now when he departs to the Havens;
for mine is the choice of Luthien, and as she so I have chosen, both the
sweet and the bitter. But in my stead you shall go, Ring-bearer, when
the time comes, and if you then desire it. If your hurts grieve you
still and the memory or your burden is heavy, then you may pass into the
West, until all your wounds and weariness are healed. But wear this now
in memory of Elfstone and Evenstar with whom your life has been woven!’ And
she took a white gem like a star that lay upon her breast hanging upon a
silver chain, and she set the chain around Frodo’s neck. ‘When the
memory of the fear and the darkness troubles you,’ she said, ‘this will
bring you aid.”

Baby Arwen with her mother Celebrian. I used the painting “The Nest” by John Everett Millias, 1887, as a reference.
“The sound of her footsteps was like a stream falling gently downhill over cool stones in the quiet of night.”
The third child of Finwë and Indis and second daughter. Half sister of Fëanor.
More commonly called Lalwen – the laughing maiden.
She followed her brothers in the exile of the Noldor but her fate remains unknown. Because I’m tired of tragedies I firmly believe she survived her time in Middle Earth and eventually journeyed back to Valinor after the War of Wrath. I somehow don’t see her wed to anyone but still generally happy and content and able to find joy in the smallest things – even after all the hardships and sorrows she had to go through during the dark times. I believe it was curiosity and love towards her bothers, Fëanor included, that made her join the exile, not ambition or rebellion. Her deep faith in Eru and his Plan ™ sometimes makes her seem unconcerned which during the wars put some people off or make them think she’s rather simple, but in reality, she just has the uncanny ability to let go of sadness and anger and instead nurture what is still there rather than lamenting the past. Not to say she doesn’t struggle with grief and pain, but she never forgets to make the best of things and keep living and remind others that there’s still beauty in the world.
I’d like to imagine this made many of the people have great confidence and love in her and that many choose to follow her after they returned to Valinor and allowed to live in her house. Yes, since I don’t imagine she married I’d like to think she still had a house of her own that was open to anyone how wanted to come. A homely house in Tirion that offered joy and laughter, or just soft smiles for the tired one.
Prefers fabrics with strong colors and not as long skirts as her sister and mother as she likes to be able to swirl around with no difficulty. She removes her cape when she’s at home. Or when she’s visiting family. Or whenever she needs to in order to move more easily to make someone smile.
All things pass. Summer must end, and the swallows will leave this hither shore…
